Happy New Year!
I trust that 2016 is a year of vibrant health and prosperity for us all.
For many people, this is a time for making resolutions. Resolution is defined as: a firm decision to do or not to do something. In making those resolutions we are stating that we are RESOLUTE in creating a new experience. This stirs the very human concept of WILL POWER. We are resolute in EXERTING OUR WILL to bring about some change in our life. That seems like a lot of work!
Personally, I don’t make resolutions. However, I do take time at the end of one year and the beginning of the next to reflect on what I have achieved, where I would like to have done better, and to set intentions for what I now want to experience. On New Year’s Day 2016, I did just that. Juliet and I declared a day of silence. From 6am to 6pm we were each in our own space preparing ourselves individually for the coming 12 months. No discussion, no music, just external silence and internal peace. In that time, I practiced meditation, Spiritual Mind Treatment and contemplation. I also read.
I have to admit that there are some things that I have had as intentions for years, possibly decades for a couple of them! To prepare for action in 2016, I decided that one of things I would read was a handbook of sorts by Steven Pressfield, the author of The War of Art. In The War of Art he identified the ways in which we create resistance against our own success. In my reading choice of that day, Do The Work, he carried on with that theme and offered his thoughts on how to take charge of yourself and do whatever it is that you want to do. He talked a lot about will power. As I read I kept thinking, this is scraping against my philosophy. I kept hearing what I imagine as the voice of Emma Curtis Hopkins reminding me of the role of Spirit in what I do. The Science of Mind and Spirit teaches that the actual work is done by the Infinite. I am also a Taoist. The Tao Te Ching states that the doing is in the not doing.
While reading and wrestling with these thoughts I heard a noise. It sounded like paper moving on the table to my right. I looked and saw a book that has been resting in that place near my easy chair for some months. That book is The Edinburgh and Dore Lectures on Mental Science by Thomas Troward. The book’s top cover was a bit lifted and our cat’s blanket was between the cover and the first page. The cat had not been in the room and nothing else was in sight that may have caused the sound. I continued reading my book on how to wilfully get things done.
About 10 or 15 minutes later, I heard the sound again coming from the same area. I know how these things work in my life so this time I picked up the Troward book. I held it a few moments, breathing to centre myself. When I felt ready, I opened to book to a random page. What page did it open to? The first page of Chapter 12 which is titled, “The Will.” Of course, where else would it possibly have opened?
I read the chapter with what I imagine as Troward’s voice in my head. It stated exactly the same thoughts I had heard in “Emma’s” voice – the real work is done by Source. I got the message. What is mine to do this year is, as always, practice to maintain awareness of Oneness, take inspired action, and trust that all I need is provided in divine time by divine design. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.” I completely trust that Emerson was knew what he was talking about. And I practice to keep that trust in the universe.
I love living life this way. I have had so many amazing things made manifest in my life. And, I know it takes practice and that sometimes I forget. I am grateful that one of those manifestations in my life is my beautiful partner, Juliet who also practices to live in this way. She is always here to remind me, and I am here for her.
It is my true desire to see all of you living fulfilling lives and achieving your dreams. And, if you’re willing, I want to support you in that. To that end, I have asked Erica Brown to join me in creating a means of doing that. Erica and I will be available online to help you create your intentions for 2016, and to build your practice for their manifestation. Sessions will be at 8pm UK time on the fourth Tuesday and Thursday of each month, beginning on the 26th and 28th of January. If Tuesdays and Thursdays are not practical for you, please contact us and we’ll work with you to find a time more suitable to your needs.
First, you’ll create your 2016 intentions. Each month, we’ll have a group live check-in online to share your progress, discuss inspired steps to continue on your way, and engage in spiritual practice in support of your intentions. This will be similar to The Mastermind Principle, a practice developed by the New Thought icon Napoleon Hill. We are creating a spiritual alliance for each of us to experience the realisation of our personal intentions.
If you want to take part in this group process, please continue reading below this message for additional instruction.
By the way, I spent the better part of New Year’s day in my easy chair reading and doing spiritual practice. After I picked up the Troward book, the sound that called me to it never repeated. Its work was done.
Love and Blessings,
HOW TO TAKE PART IN THE INTENTIONS GROUP:
What are your intentions? What do you want to experience in 2016?
According to the writer of the Four Agreements, Don Miguel Ruiz, the ancient Toltec word for the Universal Infinite Power translates to Intention. Our intentions are powerful on their own. Our conscious work with our intentions is fuelled by our thoughts, our feelings, and the words we use. They also rest on a foundation of our underlying beliefs.
On our group calls we will support you in your ongoing conscious work toward realising your intentions. It will also allow us to spiritually support you in your work.
Whether or not you already have some intentions in mind, I invite you to consider using this meditation process to check in with your higher self.
You are completely at choice about your intentions for this year. If you are not comfortable with what came to you in the meditative process, you can decide other intentions. However, I recommend that you contemplate what was revealed to you. There may be information there that will be useful for you later.
1. To prepare for the first call, complete the following thoughts in writing:

I am grateful to have these people to love in my life and to have their love:
I am creating my experience in 2016 with these intentions:

See you soon!
